XPAND ELITE

Brenthaven is an outdoor soft goods company based in Seattle, Washington. This project was a joint exploration between Teague and Brenthaven aimed at exploring new form factors for laptop cary cases. Observing that most ‘slim’ lap top cases bulk up with the introduction of daily necessities like chargers, moleskins, project folders and other incidentals — this design sought to deliver a two-state solution; one that expanded dynamically to fit the contents.

The core of the design are two overlapping flaps; one of which is held in place by a hidden elastic gusset. The resulting design is simple, sleek and offers a bit of unexpected ‘magic’.  To better understand the project check out this video

WHY I LIKE IT:
Simple design conceals a clever ‘fix’ for letting the bag adjust to its contents while remaining visually tight.
